Letter written to Aviation Minister of India for withdrawal of notification
AMRITSAR: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has taken a strong notice of the prohibition of Amritdhari Sikh employees from performing duty wearing Kakar (Kirpan) at airports. Advocate Dhami said that according to the order issued recently by the Civil Aviation Security Bureau, banning the wearing of Kirpan by the Sikh employees on duty at the airport is a push against the Sikhs.

Advocate Dhami has written a letter to the Civil Aviation Minister of India, Rammohan Naidu, expressing strong objection and urging him to withdraw this decision immediately. He said that this discrimination within his own country is a big attack on the religious freedom of the Sikh citizens of the country. The Government of India should never forget that Sikhs have made great sacrifices for the freedom of this country. He said that it is sad that the Sikhs who sacrificed themselves for the country are being pushed in their own country. He said that governments should refrain from such things, which hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs.
