AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the police torture on the people protesting against the drugs in Mansa and the forcible taking of the body of a person from village Bhamme Kalan from his family and villagers after his death.
He has also taken strict notice of the police forcibly arresting the youth during the Mansa dharna and desecrating the turbans of Sikhs at this time.
Advocate Dhami said that this mentality of the government is a manifestation of its anti-Punjab and anti-Sikh thinking.
He said that the loss of lives of youth due to drugs is extremely worrying for Punjab and in such a tragic time, instead of treating the victim's family with compassion and sensitivity, the government is acting dictatorially.
Advocate Dhami said that there should be a fair investigation into this act taken by the police so that it can be revealed on whose orders this action was taken. He said that saving the youth of Punjab from drugs is the biggest need of the hour. If a family loses a member due to drugs, then instead of understanding their pain and solving the serious issue of drugs, the government is forcibly suppressing such cases.
He said that it is the primary responsibility of the government to listen to the people struggling against drugs and to save the youth of Punjab from this scourge, but the government is misusing the police apparatus to suppress the voice of the people. Advocate Dhami said that this authoritarian attitude of the government is not right and the people of Punjab will not tolerate it.
